People living with Parkinson's and other neurological conditions in Sandwell, Tipton and surrounding areas of the West Midlands near Birmingham are invited to try a new free seated yoga project launching this autumn.

Accessible weekly sessions in Tipton

Starting on Thursday 22 October, the classes will run weekly every Thursday from 11am to 12pm at Murray Hall Community Trust, St Mark's Road, Tipton (DY4 0SL).

Delivered by an experienced yoga instructor from Body Mind Collective CIC and funded through a Parkinson's UK Physical Activity grant, the free seated sessions are designed to be an inclusive and accessible way for people living with Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis or other neurological conditions to stay active and well.

Each class includes 45 minutes of gentle seated movement followed by time for reflection, conversation and refreshments. No previous experience of yoga or exercise is needed, and all ages and abilities are welcome, including wheelchair users. Carers, friends and relatives are also invited to join in or watch.

Physical and mental wellbeing

Alongside supporting balance, strength and coordination for people living with Parkinson's, gentle yoga can help improve mindfulness, relaxation and sleep quality.

Bryony Morris, Founder at Body Mind Collective, said: "We are really excited to work with Parkinson's UK and bring our sessions to people living with neurological conditions in Sandwell, because more often than not, the people who most benefit from yoga are unable to access it.

"Body Mind Collective CIC was founded to remove those barriers and thanks to our Parkinson's UK Physical Activity grant, these free to access sessions will ensure that anyone who wants to attend is able."
