Walking tennis for people with Parkinson's near Chester

People living with Parkinson's in Chester and the surrounding area are being invited to try walking tennis, a gentle and social version of the game, at new weekly sessions launched just across the border at the Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre. The Thursday-morning sessions are free to try, with all equipment provided and carers welcome.

Nurse Alex Foley's 60-hour DJ set for The Cinnamon Trust

Alex Foley, a 31-year-old nurse from London, planned a 60-hour live-streamed DJ set from 7 to 9 August for her mum Sarah's 60th birthday and The Cinnamon Trust. As of 22 August, the public fundraiser records £2,070 from 87 donations, plus £461.25 Gift Aid; completion of all 60 planned hours is not yet directly confirmed.

It's My First Day!, a new London podcast about fresh starts

London music artist and filmmaker Tehillah Hinds has launched a new fortnightly podcast, It's My First Day!, which sets out to cut through the doom and gloom with honest, funny stories about first days, from new jobs and side hustles to hobbies and new chapters of life. It launched on 10 July 2026 and is aimed at anyone making a fresh start.

Great Big Climate Circus finale draws 500 in Gloucester

The Great Big Climate Circus drew about 500 people to the Venture Community Hub in White City, Gloucester, on Saturday 18 July for the finale of its 2026 tour. The free, youth-led day featured circus, music, dance and spoken word, free meals from the Eat Well Wagon, and a sustainably-powered programme of activities for all ages.

CBSO: Birmingham as proud of its orchestra as football

New research from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra finds the city is almost as proud of its orchestra as its football teams. A third of residents (32%) name orchestras and concert halls as a source of civic pride, close behind football (38%), and the study finds classical music is as popular with under-35s as with over-55s, ahead of the CBSO in the City festival from 27 to 31 August.
